Worship FAQs

How do I get there?
Put 501 William Law Rd Windsor NY into your GPS and turn onto the private road that leads to Sky Lake Camp & Retreat center. Keep going until you see one of our lawn signs. A friendly person will be there to greet you and direct you to our worship location. We are usually down by the lake. If it’s raining we’ll be on the porch of Founders’ Lodge.

Wherever you’re coming from, we promise it will be worth the drive!

What if there’s bad weather, will we still meet?
Absolutely! If there’s rain we gather on the porch of Founders’ Lodge. If it’s cold or snowy we meet indoors. We share updates on Facebook & Instagram each Sunday but you can always find where we’re gathered by following the signs after arriving at Sky Lake. If there’s dangerous road conditions we’ll put the word out not to come.

What do I need?
You can bring a folding chair if you’d like but we have benches and some pretty soft grass. It’s often up to 10 degrees cooler at Sky Lake than anywhere else in the southern tier so bring a layer or two. We’ll be in or near the woods so bug spray and sunscreen as needed. Most of all bring your whole self and an openness to experiencing the Divine.

I’m not really a Christian, can I still come?
Please do! We need everyone. We believe Truth is found in many traditions and throughout Creation. Our pastor was trained in a Christian background, we are sponsored by the United Methodist Church, and our board has members of various and no faith backgrounds.

What are the Covid-19 protocols?
While outside, we are following guidelines that say those who are vaccinated need not wear a mask. When we are indoors we ask those who are not vaccinated to wear a mask. We have masks available and ask if you’re not feeling well to stay home. You can listen to the words form worship on our podcast!

Is it accessible?
Sky Lake has many accessible areas and we are happy to accommodate your needs. We won’t always be at the same location year round but we will always make sure everywhere we hold worship can be accessed by wheel chair, walker, and we can even bring you from your car to worship via golf cart! Contact us if you have accessibility concerns and we’ll be happy to answer all your questions and work out a plan based on your needs.

What happens at worship?
Worship begins each Sunday at 4pm. You’re welcome to come at 3 or 3:30 to walk around the beautiful grounds of Sky Lake. At 4pm we start by sharing something new & good in our lives. We all bring something from nature to our altar, learn something about nature, hear a poem and ancient or modern wisdom, do some singing, and then Corey shares a message that includes conversation with the group. We have a guided meditation each week as well as info about the work we’re doing in our community before we set intentions for the week ahead. Children are always welcome! Each Sunday they get a special book to read with our childcare provider who takes the kids off to the side to play games. Dogs are also welcomed and should remain on a leash.

You can check out some of our favorite music on our YouTube channel.
